Dana Johnson
- Grew up in a working class household in urban Los Angeles.
- Her two main desires as a child were to become a nun and to become a writer... She thought it seemed more like a fantasy than a reality to become a writer.
- Studied at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB)
- Received the Flannery O'Connor Award for short fiction: Break Any Woman Down and was also a finalist for the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award.
- Currently is an associate professor at the University of Southern California (USC) where she teaches literature and creative writing.

Dana Johnson's second novel Elsewhere, California is planned to be released in June of 2012. This book follows the life of Avery, who was also the main character in two of the stories found in Dana's collection of short stories titled Break Any Woman Down.
